What is the International Thespian Society?
The International Thespian Society (ITS) is an honor organization dedicated to celebrating student achievement in theater arts. ITS recognizes the hard work, creativity, and dedication of theater students across the world. Through participation in school productions, technical work, and theater related activities, students earn points toward induction, an honor that showcases their dedication to the performing arts. As a part of the Education Theater Association (EdTA), ITS provides members amazing opportunities such as national events, expert workshops, scholarships and more. This organization promotes theater as an essential part of a well-rounded education and encourages students to not only grow as performers and technicians, but also as collaborators, leaders, and innovators.
What Are ITS Points?
ITS Points are the system the International Thespian Society uses to recognize and reward student participation in theater. Students can earn points by contributing to school productions in areas such as acting, technical theater, design, directing, management, and more. 10 hours of theater work counts as 1 point. Once a student reaches 10 ITS points, the become eligible for induction into the International Theater Society, an honor that celebrates the student's dedication, skill, and commitment to the performing arts. Additional points earned after induction allow students to achieve higher ranks and honors within the society.
